No-deposit car rental in Abu Dhabi allows eligible international visitors to rent without providing Al Hurr’s standard AED 1,500 refundable deposit. Instead, approved renters pay AED 35 per day, capped at a non-refundable AED 350. The option is unavailable to GCC residents and remains subject to approval by the driver, vehicle, and booking. It does not remove responsibility for traffic fines, DARB tolls, fuel, additional mileage, damage or other rental charges. Renters should review insurance, mileage, delivery, VAT, and return conditions before booking, and ensure the deposit-free option is clearly shown in their final quotation.

No-deposit car rental in Abu Dhabi allows an approved renter to take a vehicle without providing a refundable security deposit upfront. At Al Hurr Car Rental, eligible international visitors pay AED 35 per rental day, capped at AED 350, instead of providing the standard AED 1,500 refundable deposit.

The fee is non-refundable. “No deposit” removes the standard deposit requirement, but fines, DARB tolls, fuel, additional mileage, damage and other agreed charges remain the renter’s responsibility.

Policy information checked against Al Hurr’s published terms in August 2026.

Why Do Car Rental Companies Collect a Security Deposit?

A rental company may collect a security deposit to settle traffic fines, tolls, missing fuel, additional mileage, damage and cleaning costs. Some charges are reported after the car is returned, so the deposit may remain reserved after handover.

Under Al Hurr’s published Terms and Conditions, the standard deposit is AED 1,500 and is normally reserved for 30 days after return. Applicable charges are settled before the balance is refunded through the original collection method. Bank fees or currency exchange differences may affect the amount received.

What Does “No Deposit” Actually Mean?

A deposit-free rental means the standard refundable deposit is not collected for an approved booking. A separate fee and eligibility conditions may apply.

At Al Hurr, the deposit-free option replaces the AED 1,500 deposit with a non-refundable daily charge. It does not include the vehicle rental price, provide additional insurance, or cancel any charges incurred while the vehicle is in the renter’s possession.

When checking a quotation, use this simple formula:

Vehicle price + deposit-free fee + insurance or extras + delivery + VAT = total quoted amount

How Does Al Hurr’s Deposit-Free Option Work?

Al Hurr offers the option to eligible international visitors who are not GCC residents. Approval depends on the driver’s profile and documents, the vehicle, and the booking details. A general vehicle quotation does not confirm approval.

The deposit-free charge is calculated as follows:

Rental duration Deposit-free charge
1 day AED 35
3 days AED 105
7 days AED 245
10 days or longer Maximum AED 350

The charge stops increasing at AED 350 for the approved rental period and remains non-refundable.

The approved option and complete costs should appear clearly in the final quotation before payment.

No Deposit vs Refundable Security Deposit

The two options affect your available funds and final rental cost differently.

Factor Deposit-free option Standard security deposit
Initial requirement AED 35 per day AED 1,500
Maximum amount AED 350 AED 1,500
Refundable No Yes, after applicable deductions
Deposit refund No refund required Normally reserved for 30 days
GCC residents Not available Subject to standard requirements
Rental liabilities Still apply Still apply

The comparison is not simply AED 350 against AED 1,500. The deposit-free amount is a cost that is not returned. The standard deposit is refundable after applicable deductions.

For three days, the deposit-free fee is AED 105. For seven days, it is AED 245, and at ten days it reaches AED 350. The standard option requires more upfront, but its remaining balance is refundable.

Which Option May Suit Your Rental?

The deposit-free option may suit an eligible international visitor who prefers not to tie up AED 1,500 or wait for a refund and accepts the non-refundable fee.

The standard deposit may suit someone who prefers a refundable arrangement and can provide AED 1,500 upfront. It also applies when the renter does not qualify for the deposit-free option.

Compare the complete quotation, not only the amount required at pickup.

What Can You Still Be Charged for Without a Deposit?

Under Al Hurr’s rental terms, the renter may still be responsible for:

  • Traffic fines: Violations during the rental remain payable, even when reported later.
  • DARB tolls: Toll crossings remain payable. Abu Dhabi Mobility publishes the current DARB toll rules.
  • Additional mileage: Kilometers above the vehicle’s allowance are charged at the stated rate.
  • Fuel differences: The car should be returned with the fuel level recorded at handover.
  • Vehicle damage: Responsibility depends on the circumstances of the accident, insurance, and the agreement.
  • Cleaning or smoking: Al Hurr’s current terms state an AED 150 charge, where applicable.
  • Late returns: After Al Hurr’s two-hour grace period, an additional rental day may be charged.

Request any extension before the agreement expires and wait for approval.

Is Insurance Included with a No-Deposit Rental?

Al Hurr’s terms state that basic insurance is included. Optional Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) may also be selected.

The AED 35 fee is not insurance and does not change liability in an accident. The signed agreement determines coverage, excess, and exclusions. If an accident or damage occurs, notify Al Hurr and the appropriate authorities immediately and obtain the required official report.

What Should You Check Before Booking?

Use this checklist before confirming a deposit-free rental:

  • Is the deposit-free approval confirmed in writing?
  • Are the AED 35 fee, the AED 350 cap, and the non-refundable status clear?
  • Are the mileage allowance and additional-kilometer rate stated?
  • Which insurance, excess and exclusions apply?
  • Are VAT, delivery and optional services included in the total?
  • What are the fuel, cancellation, extension and late-return conditions?

At handover, record existing marks in the Vehicle Condition Report. Photograph the car, fuel level and odometer for your records.

What Documents May International Visitors Need?

Al Hurr generally asks for a passport copy, home-country driving license, International Driving Permit where required, and a valid debit or credit card. Requirements vary by the license-issuing country and the renter's profile, so wait for confirmation.

Can a Deposit-Free Car Be Delivered in Abu Dhabi?

Al Hurr can arrange delivery and collection at selected hotels, offices, residences and Zayed International Airport. Confirm the cost and provide flight details for an airport handover.
